Encountering God: The Goal of Religious Education
“Education is integral to the mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News. First and foremost every Catholic educational institution is a place to encounter the living God who in Jesus Christ reveals his transforming love and truth.” (cf. Spe Salvi, 4) Pope Benedict XVI
We encourage ALL FAMILIES to enroll their children in religious education classes. A thorough knowledge of our rich Catholic heritage enables children to nurture a loving relationship with Jesus Christ and lays a strong foundation for their developing faith.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation consist of two consecutive years of preparation. Thus, a child planning to make First Communion must prepare in 1st and 2nd grades, or the equivalent Special Sacraments 1 and 2. Confirmation students prepare in 6th and 7th and 8th grade. Confirmation is held in early autumn of 8th grade.
For those who have not received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist or Confirmation by the time they finish 8th grade, we offer sacramental preparation classes for high school and adults.
